Building Color Palettes from Images

Extracting colors from a photo is a quick way to develop a palette with built‑in harmony. Our Color Palette Extractor samples dominant hues and creates a palette you can copy into your design.

To build a palette:

  1. Choose an image that captures the mood you want. Landscapes, artwork or brand photography are good sources.
  2. Upload the image to the extractor. It samples key colors and outputs a palette.
  3. Review and adjust the palette. You can modify the shades, add tints or select complementary colors.
  4. Export the palette as HEX values, CSS variables or a Tailwind configuration.

Remember to ensure adequate contrast for text and interface elements by testing color combinations with our Contrast Checker.
